Sitewide Authority & Evidence Audit Methodology
The framework used to decide whether an existing BramptonBaseball.com page should be deepened, consolidated, updated or left alone.
A page earns its place by solving a distinct reader problem with accurate, appropriately sourced information. Word count alone is not a quality score.
1. Purpose and information gain
We ask whether the page answers a distinct question, helps a specific Brampton baseball decision, or preserves a useful reference object. If two pages serve essentially the same intent, consolidation is preferred over keeping both for search coverage.
2. Evidence and volatility
Claims about schedules, registration, tryouts, fees, team counts, coaches, field status and tournament operations are treated as volatile. They should be dated and linked to the responsible official source. Durable explanations can remain evergreen when the underlying structure is stable.
3. Local authority
Local claims should come from the organization that controls them: BMBI for BMBI programs, COBA for COBA competition data, Baseball Ontario or Baseball Canada for governing information, and the City of Brampton for municipal facilities and permits.
4. Internal knowledge graph
Each substantive page should connect naturally to a parent hub, adjacent decision guides and supporting methodology or glossary pages. Links are added because they help the reader continue the task—not merely to manipulate crawl signals.
5. Technical integrity
The audit checks canonical tags, unique metadata, structured data, navigation consistency, internal-link resolution, search-index coverage, sitemap coverage and mobile-friendly semantic markup. Duplicate metadata or conflicting canonical signals are treated as release-blocking defects.
6. Leave-alone rule
Short pages are not automatically thin. A glossary definition, FAQ or policy can be concise if it completely serves its purpose. Expansion is justified only when it adds useful explanation, evidence, examples or next-step guidance.
